Introducing Kurt P. Ramin

Kurt has been a pioneer in global reporting languages and standards. He has been a director and advisor to the International Accounting Standards Committee Foundation (IASCF) at the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) in London. His work involved outreach and travel to over 70 countries adopting IFRS. Kurt was instrumental in the development of the world's leading digital reporting language - XBRL/IFRS. At the IASCF, he was also responsible for initiating the localization and translation of IFRS, now translated into over 50 languages and used by over 100 countries around the globe. Kurt was elected Global Chairman of the XBRL International Steering Committee and served as the longest acting Chairman of that organization.

In addition, in October 2008, at IUCN's World Conversation Congress in Barcelona, Kurt was elected to a four-year term to the Council (as Treasurer) of IUCN, the largest nature and environmental network in the world (www.iucn.org).

Before being seconded to PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) to London Kurt was a Partner in PwC's New York office, working in their Capital Markets Practice. Prior to that, he served as Chief Financial Officer to several prominent international companies.

Kurt Ramin holds an MBA from Central Michigan University and a BA from Fachhochschule, Cologne, Germany. He is a CPA and a Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) through Wharton School, Philadelphia. He is a member of the Financial Executives International (FEI) and their Globalization Oversight Committee (GOC).

Kurt Ramin has published articles on International Financial Reporting, XBRL and Capital Markets issues in International Handbooks and Magazines, such as "International Auditing Differences" in Journal of Accountancy, "Corporate Financial Disclosure" in Choi, International Accounting and Finance Handbook, and "International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) in International Corporate Practice, Practicing Law Institute, New York, 2007.
